Alyson Dutch | CEO & PR Maven

Alyson Dutch has spent nearly 40 years answering one question: How do you inspire demand for something the world doesn't yet understand? Her expertise spans public relations, affiliate PR, thought leadership, product and service marketing, advertising, and crisis management. She has worked in cities from Bangkok to Johannesburg and Wichita to New York, managing media, global events, visionaries, cultural icons, and breakthrough product launches.

Known for shaping perception, some of her work has influenced history, while much of it drives measurable consumer behavior today. Her ability to translate complex ideas into irresistible stories has generated ROIs ranging from 350% to more than 156,000% for every client she has represented—an uncommon distinction in the public relations industry.

As founder of Brown + Dutch Public Relations, Alyson has launched innovations across virtually every consumer product category—from food, beverages, personal care, wellness, beauty, apparel, and pet products to B2B technologies, and sustainable clean energy.

Some of her career highlights include:

  • Repositioned thinkThin ahead of its $217 million acquisition.
  • Launched the "Starbucks of Green Tea" for Tokyo Coca-Cola.
  • Handled U.S. publicity for Sun City, South Africa, during the fall of apartheid.
  • Translated and launched a licensed Barbie fashion line for real women.
  • Selected by Swatch to introduce its first digital ski timing technology to the market, leveraging a team of the world’s top extreme athletes.
  • Helped the co-founder of True Religion Jeans launch a million-dollar luxury home furnishings brand.

Throughout her career, Alyson has worked alongside many of the world's original influencers, including The Beach Boys, Shaquille O'Neal, Kelly Slater, Elton John, and organizations such as the American Red Cross, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Susan G. Komen, Caltrans, the USDA, and the FDA.

Early in her career, she led publicity for the Miss Universe, Miss USA, and Miss Teen USA Pageants around the world and participated in one of television's historic milestones—the first time animation was integrated into a primetime network broadcast.

After launching more than 10,000 products and witnessing the collapse of traditional earned media, Alyson pioneered affiliate public relations, founded the à la carte PR platform Consumer Product Events, and authored The P.O.M. Principle and The PR Handbook for Entrepreneurs.

Beyond her career, Alyson volunteered for 23 years as an Emergency Medical Technician with the National Ski Patrol and considers one of her proudest accomplishments being "Mom" to a former foster youth through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. She is passionate about helping women entrepreneurs as a member of the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and serves on the Executive Board of the National Association of Women Business Owners – California. When she's not building brands, you'll find her outdoors—whether skiing a Black Diamond run, riding mountain and road bikes, or meditating in the mountains outside Mumbai.
